Good news :
Somebody from the 'directors office' at my electricity company called to say that they were very sorry I'd been getting the mad bills, that they're going to write all of the money off because it's their fault, that they're going to follow it up with the relevant department to find out why I had to write a letter to the MD to get it sorted, and that they're going to credit my account with £50 as a goodwill gesture. No, it's not a lot of money - but £50 in the black is far better than £1270 in the red. And, I've got her name and number.
Bad news :
Gene have confirmed that they're calling it a day following their gigs in December. Cue much teary-eyed wailing at the Olympians website. Gal has allowed me to tinker with our Christmas arrangements so that we can make it to the farewell gig, and I'm very glad that I'm going to be there. I know that they're often thought of as a bunch of Smiths copyists who've seen better days, but I've been very close to their music for the past ten years, and I'm really going to miss them.
